School visits

During the Spring and Summer, I run workshops 'on the plot' for schools nurseries. If you are a school/nursery local to South Ealing, please email me to arrange a visit. Groups are restricted to 15 children (generally half a class at a time plus adult helpers/staff). Workshops cost £65 per group and the group will get a free pack of our limited edition healthy eating Top Trumps cards. (Please see Healthy Eating Resources page). All pictures on the cards were taken on the allotment. Each workshop will take about 75mns.

Allotment visits for local families

Occasionally I will run ‘open’ workshops for the local community too. These involve a ‘journey of discovery’ and I have permission to run these from Ealing Council, and fellow allotment holders, and the Committee.

The workshops involve meeting at the entrance to the ‘secret garden’, opposite South Ealing Underground Station. Children will discover how many fruit and vegetables grow in their natural habitats, they may visit chicken pens, bee hives and greenhouses, and if they are very lucky, will be able to see a slow worm- a rare and lovable, protected creature (technically a lizard)- especially wonderful as they eat slugs 😉

The workshop might include some traditional elements of a Rainbow Workshop – like songs and fruit and veg games, but in addition there may be some sowing, harvesting or planting too, depending on the weather and time of year.

There is shelter in the shed, in the orchard and under trees, fresh running drinking water, wipes and tissues, tables and chairs, mats and carpets, and even a eco toilet for adult use, so everyone’s needs can be catered for.

Allotment visits are restricted to 15 children maximum at a time, to ensure each group is manageable, and lasts about 75mns. The cost is £10 per child (adults are free).

Please contact us by emailing natashagavineo@gmail.com to book an allotment visit for your group, or keep an eye out for our community ones in the Summer term.
